It seems like summer just got here, but it’s not too early to be thinking ahead to fall and an important event that makes a significant difference in the lives of many children, teens and families right here in the Fox Cities.
On Oct. 10, the J. J. Keller Foundation will present the fourth annual Race for a Reason, which raises money for Catalpa Health. Since its founding in 2012, this provider of pediatric mental health services has significantly reduced wait times for care, and with your support it can have an even bigger impact.
Race for a Reason is both an important source of funding for Catalpa Health and an exciting event. It raised $500,000 for Catalpa in its first three years, and this year’s event is bigger and better than ever.
Race for a Reason 2015 moves to Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, a fitting setting for an event featuring customized mini Grand Prix race cars. The event has the feel of a major race, with pace cars and pit crews. As if the event needed even more energy, this year the races will be followed by a concert by the popular local band Boxkar, and a fireworks show will put an explosive finish on the day.
This event is still a few months away, but we’d like to get ticket sales off to a fast start. To do this, we’re offering a $5 discount – tickets are on sale now for only $10 at raceforareasonwi.com. Tickets for children age 12 and under are free.
Be assured that your support does make a difference. Through fundraising efforts such as Race for a Reason, Catalpa has been able to:
•Open a new Access Center and reduce wait times for initial mental health care evaluations from 54 days to 5 days, with crisis appointments offered in 24 hours or less.
•Put the wheels in motion to launch a new day treatment program to support kids in need of more intense therapy. This will be up and running by the end of July 2015.
•Increase its capacity for mental health evaluations by 60 percent.
•Offer on-site services in 13 area schools through community partnerships.
We want to keep this momentum going, so mark Oct. 10 on your calendar, and purchase your tickets now. Your support gives the green light to a better tomorrow for area kids, teens and families.
I look forward to seeing you at Race for a Reason.
