OSHKOSH — The generosity of a community is most apparent during times of hardship, and the results of the Stock the Shelves campaign proved Oshkosh is no different.

Through donations from readers, funds at the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, and partnerships, the Northwestern-sponsored drive will inject $100,000 in the fight to end hunger in Winnebago County. Eleven food pantries, all trudging through a long recession, will be able to provide staples for families in need.

In the last week of the campaign a donor's fund through the Community Foundation contributed $30,000, the largest single contribution of the campaign, to reach the goal. The J.J. Keller Foundation and Express Convenience Store each pledged $15,000 to the campaign and members of the Winnebago County Chapter of Credit Unions pledged $6,500.

In conjunction with similar campaigns at The Northwestern's sister newspapers in Green Bay and Appleton, the Stock The Shelves campaign will raise $425,000 for local pantries.

The campaign's success is indeed something the community, and our readers, can be proud to have taken part.
