OSHKOSH — The J.J. Keller Foundation Fund, a fund of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, has awarded a grant of $25,000 to Mercy Health Foundation for operating expenses at the Living Healthy Community Clinic (LHCC), Oshkosh. Mercy Health Foundation is part of a community collaboration that provides financial support and guides the LHCC in its mission to provide primary health care for low income, uninsured residents of Winnebago County. As of September 30, 2009, the LHCC had served 760 patients including 387 who were new since the beginning of the year. Additionally, the percentage of patients presenting with complex medical conditions has more than tripled in the last three years. Using a nurse practitioner model of care, the LHCC is able to provide cost effective care to those who do not have the financial resources to pay for medical care and medications. In 2008, $3.54 in direct health services were provided for every budget dollar. J.J. Keller Foundation Fund of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation is a donor advised fund that supports non-profit agencies that provide basic needs and services. The coalition supporting the LHCC also includes the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Nursing, Winnebago County, Mercy Health Foundation, Mercy Medical Center, Aurora Health Care, ThedaCare and the Oshkosh Area United way. |
