J. J. Keller, Big Brothers/Sisters Receive Flags Flown in Afghanistan

NEENAH, WI (October 22, 2008) – J. J. Keller associate Dan Fritsch and his platoon in Kandahar, Afghanistan, recently surprised J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. and Big Brothers/Sisters of the Fox Valley Region with American flags that were flown in their honor at Kandahar Airfield.

Dan’s 221st Ordinance Company, 4th Platoon, sent the flags with their thanks for the morale-boosters both organizations shared with the soldiers this summer.  J. J. Keller donated 25 stuffed dogs – fondly called “Tundra” and used to market the company’s Iditarod involvement – to the troops.  The animals were used by the mission soldiers and medical staff when visiting with hospitalized and injured children.

Big Brothers/Sisters participated in two shopping trips to Sam’s Club – one funded by
J. J. Keller Foundation, Inc. and the other funded by Sam’s Club itself after the store manager notified the company’s home office of the special event.  Together, more than $4,500 worth of supplies was sent to the troops – everything from beef jerky to nasal spray for the dry conditions in Afghanistan.

The flags were accompanied by an official document that read:  “The Soldiers and Marines of the United States Ammunition Supply Point accompanied this flag during Operation Enduring Freedom ensuring vital ammunition was received, issued, supplied and stored.”  A personal note signed by each member of the platoon said such things as, “Thanks for your support and patriotism!”  “Thank you for your support – you are awesome.”  “Thanks for everything…you guys rock!”

The Big Brothers/Sisters flag was presented to the organization yesterday at a meeting involving a number of community officials.  J. J. Keller’s flag will be proudly displayed in the Lynndale Sales Office, where Dan works, and later in North Park in a corporate display case, according to Jim Keller, who noted, “J. J. Keller & Associates is very proud of all the men and women in uniform and are indebted for all their sacrifices.
