OSHKOSH — The J. J. Keller Foundation Fund of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation recently awarded a grant of $25,000 to Mercy Health Foundation for support of the Living Healthy Community Clinic, Oshkosh. The grant package also includes the offer an additional $25,000 if Mercy Health Foundation can raise a matching amount by June 2011 for the Clinic. All gifts made to the Foundation for the Clinic during this period will count toward the match. In 2009, 3,283 visits were made to the Clinic by 875 low income, uninsured patients. The average cost per visit was $94.76 which included all medication, diagnostic services and basic lab work. The Clinic has proved to be an efficient and cost effective model for providing primary health care to the uninsured. It is made possible by a collaboration of public and private organizations and generous donors. |
