APPLETON — A $50,000 grant from the J.J. Keller Foundation Inc. is allowing the Appleton Even Start Family Literacy program to expand its services this year.

The program offers opportunities for parents to improve adult basic education skills while their children attend an early learning program.

It is serving 20 more families than in 2008, for a total enrollment of 85 families. The grant also is funding supplementary interactive literacy activities for families.

The program is a partnership of Fox Valley Technical College, the Appleton Area School District and other community agencies.
