APPLETON — On behalf of the partnering organizations supporting the "Dollars for Diapers" Do It! Challenge, I would like to say thank you for the overwhelming support of the Fox Cities Diaper Bank. The community's response to the diaper drive is another example of the generosity and sense of caring that makes the Fox Cities a special place.

We are grateful to all who contributed to this important cause, especially the J. J. Keller Foundation, the Fox Cities Chapter of Credit Unions, Kimberly-Clark Corp., Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region and The Post-Crescent for their leadership and support, which resulted in the "Dollars for Diapers" Do It! Challenge exceeding all expectations.

The success of The P-C's "Dollars for Diapers" Do It! Challenge 2011 will have a tremendous impact on the Fox Cities Diaper Bank's ability to help low-income families in our community. Research has shown that one in three families struggle to provide diapers for their babies. The money raised in the Do It! Challenge will purchase over 175,000 diapers, helping to ensure that our families in need have access to clean, sanitary diapers.

Diapers collected through local community drives and purchased through the Fox Cities Diaper Bank are inventoried and "banked" at Valley Packaging Industries. Once the diapers are inventoried, they are transferred to Salvation Army Fox Cities and St. Joseph Food Program for distribution to other nonprofit agencies or directly to families and children in need.

The Fox Cities Diaper Bank needs the community's continued support to fulfill its mission of assisting low-income families to meet their diaper needs. If you are interested in conducting a diaper drive and would like more information, please contact United Way Fox Cities at 920-954-7210 or visit www.foxcitiesdiaper bank.org.
